International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Yesterday was International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Our K–6 students participated in meaningful learning experiences in recognition of International Day of People with Disability. This important day gives us the chance to deepen understanding, promote inclusion and build empathy across our school community. Students explored the idea that disability is a natural part of human diversity, and that every person deserves to feel valued, respected and supported. By speaking openly about disability and celebrating the strengths and contributions of people with disability, we are helping our students grow into kinder, more informed and more inclusive individuals.

We were also privileged to welcome Jay Stevens from Stand for Spinal, who shared his personal story with our students. Jay spoke about the importance of being kind, being resilient and the need for inclusive communities, inspiring everyone with his message of positivity and strength.

This year’s theme, “Fostering disability-inclusive societies for advancing social progress,” aligns closely with the learning and conversations our students engaged in today. We are incredibly proud of the respect, curiosity and empathy they demonstrated.

Pevan and Sarah

Today our Kindergarten students and staff are enjoying an exciting excursion to see Pevan and Sarah live in action! The children were filled with energy and enthusiasm as they sang, danced and joined in with their favourite songs and characters. It was a joyful experience that sparked plenty of smiles, laughter and unforgettable moments. The performance not only entertained but also encouraged creativity, confidence and connection, making it a truly special outing for our youngest learners.
