Focus on Learning

Kindergarten

Recently Kindergarten participated in their first ever Warm Write. Like Big Write, this is an opportunity for them to write a full piece of writing. The topic of their Warm Write was 'Little Me'. 

Students were asked to write a story with a beginning, middle and end. They had access to our class word wall to help them to write 'star words' and were encouraged to use their sound knowledge to sound out words as well. This was kindergarten's very first experience of story writing and they did a fantastic job. Here are the results!

Stage One

The past few weeks stage one have been focusing on inverse operations and recalling number bonds. We have been working on recalling these facts quickly and using these to solve addition and subtraction algorithms.

During daily writing we have been focusing on writing narratives. We have been focusing on using the punctuation pyramid to edit our writing. We viewed pictures and used Think,Pair and Share with a partner to list emotions associated with the picture.
