Students across the school have been busy wrapping up their Term 4 units in creative and hands-on ways!
Our Year 5/6 students continued their study of Krakatoa, learning more about how researchers explore volcanoes, eruptions, and their impacts.
Year 3/4 students combined culture and celebration by designing Christmas-themed 'wayang kulit' (shadow puppets).
In the Year 1/2 area, students celebrated the end of their clothing unit by creating colourful 'batik' crowns. They learned about the Indonesian art of batik, and used patterns and designs to personalise their own pieces.

Meanwhile, our Preps had fun making Indonesian finger puppets with Christmas characters, such as Santa, reindeer, elves, and snowmen, while learning new words like how to say “Merry Christmas.”
We’re looking forward to finishing up our projects next week and celebrating all the wonderful learning from this term in Indonesian!

What a wonderful year it has been in Performing Arts! Throughout the year, students have shown tremendous growth in their skills, confidence, and creativity.
Across all year levels, students developed foundational ukulele skills, learning how to hold the instrument, strum basic rhythms, and play in-time with others. It has been fantastic to see their musical understanding and confidence grow week by week.
Students also explored dance styles from different eras, learning how movement can reflect different times in history. Through this, they built coordination, rhythm, and expressive performance skills, while gaining a deeper appreciation for how dance evolves over time.
One of the biggest highlights of the year has been the increase in performance confidence. Whether dancing, singing, or playing instruments, students have grown in their ability to perform in front of others with pride and enthusiasm. Their willingness to have a go, support one another, and celebrate success has been wonderful to see.
Thank you to our students, staff, and families for supporting Performing Arts throughout the year. It has truly been a year of learning, growth, and joyful performances.
We look forward to a fun filled year of learning in 2026!

Prep
Last week in PE, we played mini games and completed activities with a little Christmas twist. This included Santa rounding up his reindeer, elves helping to fill Santa’s sleigh with presents, and making our own Santas using PE equipment. This week in PE, we will be incorporating some games to support the skills the Preps have been working on over the year, whilst maintaining a Christmas flair.

Year 1/2
Year 1 and 2 students also embarked on a variety of Christmas themed games. Santa was busy catching his reindeer, while the elves were setting them free! The elves did show good teamwork by working together to pass the presents up the line to the sleigh. The elves also got into mischief by collecting P.E equipment in a relay format and creating their own Santas!
Year 3/4
During week 8 and 10, the 3/4s were involved in an external gymnastics program, thanks to Nunawading Gymnastics. This program was designed to provide foundational skills in this area. It was great to see the kids having fun, and we hope to extend them in this area further down the track.

Year 5/6
Our Year 5/6 students were involved in the Sporting Schools Gymnastic Program again this week. We were fortunate to have two instructors from the Nunawading Gymnastic Club come out and work with our students on balance, flexibility, strength, and coordination as they took part in new circuits.
Last week our students went back to basics, playing the old fashioned playground game of Downball. There were some fierce rallies, as the already seasoned players showed their well practised skills, while others enjoyed experiencing the game for the first time playing the original rules.
Junior Hooptime State Finalists
I just wanted to say a huge congratulations to the Future Stars Girls Junior Hooptime team, who played in the State finals last Thursday. They won their first 3 games, making it to the quarter finals, but unfortunately, they were knocked out in the next game. I am told that they played fair and to the best of their abilities, demonstrating excellent sportsmanship and representing our school honorably. We are all very proud of you and your effort - equal 5th in the state! Not bad at all. Well done!

Also, thank you to Bec Smith for giving up so much of your time to come to all the games and coach the girls, and to all the parents and special spectators who came to support and score for them. You are truly appreciated.

Congratulations on an Amazing Art Show!🎨🌟
What an incredible celebration of creativity! Our students shone brightly at this year’s Art Show, proudly sharing the artworks, inventions and projects they have been developing throughout the year. Their imagination, perseverance, and willingness to try new ideas were on full display, and we could not be more proud of what they achieved.
In STEAM, students have worked exceptionally hard, investigating scientific ideas, experimenting with materials, designing solutions, and bringing their artistic visions to life. Their curiosity and collaborative spirit have made our STEAM room a place buzzing with excitement, problem-solving, and joyful discovery.
A huge congratulations to all students for their dedication and the outstanding quality of their work. Thank you to our school community for supporting creativity, innovation and hands-on learning. We can’t wait to see what our young creators dream up next!
