APS School Council August Update 

Meeting 4 of 2026 was held last week and we were excited to hear overwhelmingly positive feedback about the recent swimming program.  Students were reported to be progressing as quickly as young Janjucetus Dullardis, learning essential swimming skills for our coastal lifestyles.  Another huge thanks must go to the Village Fair and Parents' Committees for such successful fundraising that has enabled this valuable opportunity.  No doubt the kids are also looking forward to Beach Safety in term 4! #grateful #anglesealyfe

Principal Ross has been working on the new internal walls project like a Velociraptor on a Triceratops rib! The new walls will create separate  enclosures, making the environment so much calmer and more conducive to successful learning. There are, however, a few T-Rex-sized obstacles currently roaming the project site. We’re hoping these renovations can escape extinction and become reality later in the year.

This month also saw the first meeting of the APS Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group.  This formally begins the school's journey towards reconciliation between non-First Nations Australians and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.  

The RAP will document how APS can strengthen relationships, respect and opportunities in the classroom, while building greater understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and perspectives. The Working Group will be following Reconciliation Australia’s RAP program, Narragunnawali, which provides tools and resources specifically for schools and early learning services working towards reconciliation. The School Council would also like to give a short reminder about voluntary contributions. If families are willing to make a contribution towards the school’s classroom resources, please reach out to Colleen at the front desk to arrange payment. Every little bit goes a long way towards our children's education and these contributions are always very much appreciated.

School Council 2026

School Council plays an important role at Anglesea Primary School.

A well-informed and effective School Council can strengthen and positively impact a school in many ways. Anglesea values the input from our School Council members and appreciate the parent voice and perspective that is shared at each of our meetings. 

If you would like to be involved in the Angleasea Primary School’s School Council, nominations are generally open in February each year. School Council members usually hold their positions for terms of two years.

There are approximately 8 School Council meetings each year plus a Public Reporting Meeting, at which all members of the school community are invited to attend.  

Meetings are held on a Wednesday and commence at 5:30pm.
