Wellbeing & Inclusion

Welcome Back to Term 2!

We’ve had a fantastic start to Term 2, and it has been wonderful to see students settling so quickly back into strong school routines.

Line‑ups have considerably improved, transitions are calm, and students are arriving to class ready to learn. A big thank you to families for supporting a smooth return.

Some standout classes over the past fortnight have been our foundation classes, who have consistently demonstrated excellent line‑up routines, respectful movement around the school, and positive learning behaviours. Well done to these students and their teachers.

Peaceful Kids

Our Peaceful Kids program has commenced again this term, and we are thrilled to see how confidently students have stepped into the sessions. Peaceful Kids continues to be a highly successful wellbeing program at our school, supporting students to build resilience, emotional awareness, and practical strategies for managing worries.

This week I was fortunate to take 5W and share a Meditation called "Leaves on a Stream" .

This Medication is a guided mindfulness meditation for children and adults that helps manage stressful thoughts and emotions by visualising them as leaves floating down a gentle river. It teaches children to observe their thoughts without judgment or attachment, allowing worries to pass by rather than becoming stuck on them.

The kids really enjoyed the session.

Already, students are showing improvements in:

  • recognising their emotions
  • using calming strategies independently
  • building confidence in sharing their feelings
  • supporting peers with kindness and empathy

We look forward to another strong term of growth and reflection with this group.

If any parent has any questions or would like more information about this program, please don’t hesitate to reach out to myself or Ms Hynes.

Positive Education

Throughout Term 2, students across most year levels will build on their Respectful Relationships program, exploring:

  • understanding consent and personal boundaries
  • reading social cues and recognising feelings
  • using kind, confident communication
  • being an upstander and supporting others
  • building safe, respectful friendships

These lessons strengthen students’ emotional literacy, social confidence, and help build a positive, respectful school culture..

How Families Can Support This Learning at Home

Our Respectful Relationships and wellbeing lessons are most powerful when the language and ideas are reinforced at home. Here are a few simple ways families can help:

✔ Talk about feelings openly

  • Use everyday moments (after school, in the car, at bedtime) to name feelings and model calm language.
  • This helps children build emotional vocabulary and confidence.

✔ Practise asking for permission

  • Encourage children to ask before joining games, touching belongings, or giving hugs.
  • This reinforces the idea that consent is about respect and choice, not just rules.

✔ Notice social cues together

  • Point out examples in books, TV shows or real life:
  • “Does that character look comfortable?”, “What clues tell you that?”

✔ Praise respectful behaviour

  • When your child includes someone, uses kind words, or solves a problem calmly, name the behaviour:
  • “I noticed how you checked if your friend was okay — that was really thoughtful.”

✔ Encourage help‑seeking

  • Let children know it’s always okay to ask an adult for help, even if they’re unsure or worried about “bothering” someone.
