Year 7 Camp

From the 25th to the 27th of March, Year 7 students embarked on a three‑day camp at Alexandra Adventure Resort as part of their transition into secondary school. The program provided a structured and supportive environment in which students could develop confidence, strengthen peer relationships and engage in collaborative learning beyond the classroom.
Across the camp, students took part in a wide range of supervised activities, including high ropes, canoeing, archery, the flying fox, low‑ropes initiatives, disc golf, the giant swing and various team‑based challenges. These experiences encouraged students to work cooperatively, communicate effectively and demonstrate resilience when faced with new or demanding tasks.
It was evident throughout the program that students were willing to support one another, contribute positively to group activities and uphold the College values.
Evening activities such as trivia, night walks and a movie night further contributed to a sense of community and provided opportunities for students to interact in a relaxed and inclusive setting. Students also took responsibility for meal set‑ups, clean‑up duties and maintaining their cabins, demonstrating maturity and respect for shared spaces.
By the conclusion of the camp, students had formed new friendships, strengthened their independence and gained valuable skills that will support them throughout their secondary schooling. The Year 7 cohort represented Taylors Lakes Secondary College with enthusiasm and cooperation, making the camp a highly successful and memorable experience for all involved.
The Junior Sub-School team would like to extend our sincere thanks to the staff who attended and supported the Year 7 Camp. Their supervision, encouragement and commitment ensured that students were safe, engaged and able to make the most of every opportunity.

Year 7 Year Level Leader
On the 25th of March, all the Year 7s were lucky enough to head off to Alexandra Adventure Resort for our first secondary school camp. The bus ride took about two hours, and everyone was buzzing with excitement the whole way there.
As soon as we arrived, we grabbed our lunches, met our instructors and jumped straight into our activities.
There was so much to do at camp. Some of the activities included high ropes, the flying fox, low ropes, archery, the giant swing, disc golf, gaga ball, canoeing, water skirmish and orienteering.
Every group got to try different things, and it was great seeing everyone work together, encourage each other and sometimes even face their fears. Lots of us stepped out of our comfort zones and felt really proud afterwards.
The nights were just as fun as the days. On the first night, we roasted marshmallows around the campfire and played trivia, which got very competitive. On the second night, we all got cozy in the rec room and watched The Incredibles, which was the perfect way to relax after a big day of activities.
The food at camp was amazing — so many students went back for seconds, and no one ever went hungry. By the last day, everyone was tired but happy. On the way home, we stopped at Yarra Glen for lunch, and most of us were exhausted from everything we had done.
By the end of the camp, we had made new friends, tried new things and created memories we’ll never forget. It was an awesome experience and a great way to start our Year 7 journey.
