Congratulations 

Congratulations to Benjamin Lim (12 Frew),who has been selected to perform in Top Class Music and Sound 2025 as part of the VCE Season of Excellence. Benjamin will present an original composition, Brown Gummy Bear,at 2:30pmon Thursday 20 March at the Melbourne Recital Centre.

 

Top Class is an annual concert series presented by the VCAA showcasing outstanding performances by VCE and VCE VET students from schools across the state. This year, 47 top-performing students were considered by expert panels for Top Class Sound, with only eight selected to perform. Congratulations, Ben!

Abbey Reid, 11 Jenkin

Congratulations to Abbey Reid (11 Jenkin), who recently competed in the Australian All Schools Athletics Championships in Brisbane. 

 

Abbey won the National title for the U17 2000m Steeplechase with a finishing time of 7:13.40, beating second place by 4.5 seconds and third place by nearly 40 seconds. Photos of Abbey competing are displayed below.

Kira Collins, 10 Jones

Congratulations to Kira Collins (10 Jones),who is one of 33 young women in Australasia to be awarded the 'She Hoops Leadership and Confidence Scholarship'.

 

This five-month scholarship offers a unique blend of basketball, mentorship and life skills development. This fully funded scholarship includes mentoring with professional basketball players, a camp at the AIS in Canberra, community and club coaching accreditation, and sessions with EQ Minds.

Congratulations to Old Girtonian, Jenna Ackland (Class of 2024),who has been selected as one of the recipients of the Hansen Scholarship at the University of Melbourne. 

 

The annual scholarship is awarded to high-achieving students who have displayed resilience and demonstrated a commitment to helping and leading others. The 23 Hansen scholars will be supported with a full scholarship for the duration of their bachelor degree at the University of Melbourne, alongside a living allowance; mentoring and pastoral care; academic, cultural, career and other development opportunities; and free accommodation in the purpose-built student residence Little Hall.
