Principal News

Dear Sacred Heart Community
I wish to inform you that I will commence a period of Long Service leave on Tuesday 11th March 2025 until the end of the second school term (Friday 4th July 2025) upon which I will be resigning as Principal of Sacred Heart School and retiring after 37 years in education.
It has truly been a privilege these past seven plus years being Principal of Sacred Heart. I have loved every minute and hope that my tenure has somehow had a positive impact on all who have been part of our school community.
Sacred Heart is a unique community, its diversity of cultures and multi faith held practices help generate a community that is empathetic, welcoming and caring. I have been blessed to be part of such a magnificent community.
During my Long Service Leave, I will still officially be responsible for the school and as such, will be checking my emails as usual and be available for Antoinette to contact me if required on a daily basis.
It is with mixed feelings that I prepare for retirement. I am excited for the future of Sacred Heart but have some sadness that I will not be part of this beautiful community. My personal circumstances have brought about an earlier than planned retirement however I know that with Antoinette taking on the Acting Principal role in the period of my Long Service Leave, the school has a leader with humility, passion, diligence, empathy and wisdom. In her short time at our school, Antoinette has become a very respected educator and much loved for her fine personal attributes.
The transition process to the appointment of a new Principal will be seamless with Antoinette in the role as Acting Principal and the support of the magnificent Sacred Heart School staff.
It is anticipated that the process for appointing a new Principal will commence during my Long Service leave with the successful applicant taking on the position in the second half of the school year. Once the appointment timeline is organised, Antoinette will notify the community.
In conclusion can I thank all who have been part of the Scared Heart School community these past seven years. I commenced by teaching career in 1988 at Sacred Heart and I feel it’s appropriate that I finish my career in education at the school that has meant so much to me.
Yours Sincerely
Mark
