Foundation Classroom News

The Foundation students have settled into school and our routines quickly and they should be very proud of themselves.  We have attended Specialist classes (Art, Environmental Science and Values Education), Library and even Assembly.  Great work everyone!

We have settled in so well, we are already taking part in the 'Huff'n'Puff' program with the older children. Each day we have a different activity to get our brains and bodies ready for an exciting day of learning.  Here are a few photos of us joining in this week.

Literacy

We have been very busy learning our first sounds - s, a, t, p, i and n.  We have practised reading and writing the letters in upper and lower case, and have even created words using these sounds, such as pin, sat and sit.  To help us to form our letters and numbers correctly, we have started to use our 'Alphabet Overwrite' sheets.  These have been a hit and it is so great to see our skills develop!

Great work Jaxs!

Oral Language

As part of our Oral Language program, students are encouraged to share special items that they bring from home.  We are calling this 'Show and Share' this year and a timetable will be sent home shortly giving each student a day of the week to bring something if they wish.  It is a wonderful opportunity for children to develop their confidence in public speaking.  We've had some very interesting items so far this year!  Here is Archie with his amazing flashing mowhawk head band and glasses!  Defintely a stand-out.

Prep Class Photo in the Riverina Herald

A photographer from the Riverina Herald came to photograph our Foundation (Prep) students this week.  It was an exciting occasion to have the newspaper come to take our photo and even Charlie joined in on the fun!  The photo will be published in the next few weeks.  I will send families the details as soon as they are available.
