What a big fortnight at TPS

Mr Hogan

What an incredible start to the school year we have had. All classes have settled in perfectly, and already into some routines. Our Specialist classes are already engaging the students and we have even begun some of our community programs.

Student Leadership

We pride ourselves on our Student Leadership program. So many of our students put their hands up to take on Leadership roles and are often afforded this very important position in our school.

This year, Mrs Pridham is taking all of our Grade 6 students to the Young Leaders day in Melbourne, where they will further learn about what it is like to be a leader.

We wish to congratulate the following people:

School Captains:

Billy D, Lucas P and Scarlett R

Young Leaders:

Tahia R, Ava B, Anika H, Aiden M, Enrique D, Kane P, Lucas P, Billy D and Scarlett R

Breakfast Club:

Ezekiel M, Kane P, Oliver C, Kayden D, Luca H, Nate C

Ronny's Bank:

Library Leaders:

We look forward to seeing these fabulous students in their Leadership roles in 2025.

Inform and Empower

We are very fortunate to have the Community Bank - Tongala and Mathoura sponsoring both schools to take part in this very important program.

This week, our students took part in Safer Internet Day, learning about ways to be safe on the internet when browsing.

On March 5th at 7pm, a parent session is being held at St.Pats for families from both schools, around the topic of Raising Kids in a Digital World.

Here is an overview of the what the students will be covering in this program:

Swimming

Swimming Week is fast approaching. We will be conducting Swimming lessons from Monday 24th February to Thursday 27th February, with our Swimming Carnival the following day on Friday 28th February.

We are still seeking helpers to walk with the students, or able to assist in the pool.

All helpers need to have current Working with Children's Checks and show these to the office prior to helping. If you can assist, please speak to your classroom teacher.

Walking and Swimming times are as follows:

Group 1 (1/2B and 5/6B) = 10:30 – 12:30. In the pool from 11:00 - 12:00.

Group 2 (1/2A and 5/6A) = 11:30 – 1:30. In the pool from 12:00 - 1:00.

Group 3 (Prep and 3/4 students) = 12:30 – 2:30. In the pool from 1:00 - 2:00.

Leave

From February 28th until April 3rd, I will be taking Long Service Leave. Melissa Pearce will be acting Principal during this time and will be supported by Liana Haw at times through the week.

Mrs Dullard

Unfortunately Mrs Dullard is on indefinite sick leave. She is unwell at the moment and we wish her a speedy recovery. We look forward to hopefully seeing Julie back at school soon.

Getting to Know You Interviews

These interviews will be held on Monday 3rd and Tuesday 4th of March. These interviews are a quick 10 minute snapshot of how your child has settled in and some goals they may be working towards.

They run from 3:30pm - 5:30pm and booking times will be available on Compass. If these times do not suit or you are only able to do a phone interview, please speak to your child's teacher.

ACHIEVE

In 2025, we have launched our new Instructional Model - ACHIEVE.

Achieve is an acronym which covers the way our preferred model of teaching would work to ensure students maximise their potential.

Staff unpacked what each part of the model looks like and spoke about the many ways we can celebrate academic ACHIEVEment. Below is a copy of our model.

Assembly

Due to timetabling, we are moving our Assembly to 2:45pm on a Friday. This is a fabulous way to end our week, and allows us to maximise peak learning time in the morning. We hope lots of families will be able to arrive a bit earlier to collect their children on a Friday and join us for our Assembly.

Our first assembly was really well attended by families and friends and we look forward to seeing lots of people each Friday afternoon.

Have a great weekend everyone.
