From the Archives
This newsletter, From the Archives enters into the spirit of the AFL Finals and looks at the careers of two alumni.
Luke Parker (left), current Sydney Swans captain and Andrew McInnes (right) were drafted by AFL teams in the 2010 draft.
Parker was taken by the Sydney Swans at pick number 40. He made his debut in 2011 playing as a small forward and mid-field player. He had the distinction of being part of the 2012 Sydney Swans Premiership Team, playing off the bench. To date he has played over 290 games and kicked over two hundred goals.
McInnes was drafted by Carlton at number 67. He played seventeen games between 2012 and 2015. He was injured in a game against the Gold Coast Suns and was delisted by the club at the end of 2015. He went on to have a career in both the SANFL with Norwood and with Frankston in the VFL. Parker and McInnes played together in the St. Peter’s College Senior Boys Football Team that won the Southern Independent Schools Premiership in 2010.
Coincidentally, both wore number 26 for their respective clubs. The first time that they played against each other, they embraced after the game. A fact that was noted by many commentators at the time. The commentators also acknowledged that both players were former St. Peter’s College students and Dandenong Stingrays teammates.

Netball Achievement
Bella Hand represented St Peter's College with the School Sport Australia 12U National Netball Championships heldfrom the 7th to the 13th of September, at the State Netball Centre in Parkville. The Victorian girls team competed over the week against 7 other teams and did extremely well, winning 9 of their 14 games. The girls finished the championships in 3rd place, coming home with a bronze medal. Well done to Bella and the entire team.
Melbourne City FC Respectful Relationships Tournament
On Monday 16th September, eleven Year 9 students participated in the Melbourne City FC Respectful Relationships Tournament. The tournament, held at the City Football Academy at Casey Fields, was the culmination of the Respectful Relationships program that occurred in Term 2. The students who represented St Peter’s College at the tournament were:
Abbas Ahmadi Gemma Campbell Chloe de Ocampo Christina George Zohal Muhibbi Jessica Murfett Giovanni Navin Jaydah Pinga Adrian Sandoval Joseph Simon Harry Singh
All students played with respect and kindness whilst giving their best on the pitch. This respect and kindness was also displayed off the pitch and resulted in our girls collectively receiving the ‘fair play’ award. This award was originally intended to go to the person who best demonstrated respect, fairness and inclusion. However, after inviting a girl from another school who was on her own to join their warm up, the organisers wanted to recognise all of our girls with the award. Well done girls!

Monday’s excursion to Melbourne City FC's state-of-the-art training facility in Casey Fields was an insightful experience that offered a unique look into the club's inner workings and the behind-the-scenes dynamics of the professional soccer world. The training facility is home to the club’s elite Men’s and Women’s teams, six Academy teams and Administration. Among the day’s highlights were the opportunities to watch the Men’s team practice, engage in our own games on the pitch, and meet players Jamie Young and Kai Trewin, who shared their experiences and offered valuable advice to us.

I had an amazing experience being able to explore the fascinating facilities that the CFG has to offer, being able to interact with Professional Footballers via Q&A and watch a live training session with them was a personal highlight for me.

At Melbourne City, we got to learn and see how the players train and what their day looks like as athletes. We also got to explore the different career paths that can be chosen throughout sports and how dedication and hard work can lead to success both on and off the field. Stephen and G led us through a training session and allowed us to play using what we had learnt during previous discussions, as they said, "Players are here to play and do not always want to listen to the coach talk".
