Confirmation

The Sacrament of Confirmation was celebrated on Saturday 21 September at the 5.00pm Mass. This was a joyous celebration as Farrer, Josie, Beau, Pauline, Molly, Christopher, Chelsea, William, Owen, Destiny, Jack and Jasper were among the 18 children confirmed by Father Curran. Congratulations to all of the children for the reverent way you received the sacrament of Confirmation and your prayerful participation during the Mass. It was lovely to see families enjoy the opportunity to gather after the Mass to chat and enjoy the delicious Confirmation Cake baked by Manilla Bakery.

Thank you to class teachers Mr Beaumont, Miss Summerell and Miss Martin for preparing the children so beautifully. A special note of thanks to Father Curran for his support and guidance in the preparation for Confirmation and the celebration of the Mass.

Catholic Mission - Socktober - Crazy Sock Day Fundraiser - Friday 25 October

During the month of October we focus on supporting the work of Catholic Mission. Catholic Mission is the Pope’s international Mission agency in Australia. It is focused on ‘Love of God and Love of Neighbour’ and they work with communities across the world, with a number of projects including healthcare, education and spiritual care. The main fundraising focus for Catholic Mission each year is ‘Socktober’ and this year’s focus country is Mongolia.

On Friday 25 October we will be wearing our craziest socks and donating at least a gold coin to raise money for Catholic Mission’s ‘Socktober’.

We will also be making ‘sock balls’ for the students to play with. If you have any old plastic bags, pieces of string, t-shirts or other suitable materials for making sock balls please send these into school in the first week of term, so each class can get busy making sock balls. Reusing materials also supports our environmental focus of living more sustainably.

School Mass - All Saints Day

On Friday 1 November Years 3-6 will go to Mass at 9.30am to celebrate All Saints Day. On All Saints Day we remember all of those who live good and holy lives and are now with God in Heaven. Some of these are well known saints to us like St Mary of the Cross MacKillop and many are unknown.

Legends of the Light Shine

Our new Legends of the Light Shine focus for the first two weeks of Term 4 is  “Charity”. This focus compliments Catholic Mission’s Socktober focus for the month of October.

In 2015 Pope Francis initiated ‘Sport at the Service of Humanity’ to inspire and encourage people to “Live Like We Play!” We encourage our students to show charity in word and action.

Platypus Spotting Event - Tuesday 22 October

On Tuesday 22 October St Michael’s School will be participating in a platypus spotting project organised by the Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF) and the Tamworth Regional Landcare Association with Dr Gilad Bino from the University of Sydney. Dr. Bino, a renowned expert in platypus ecology, will guide the students through the process of spotting and monitoring platypus populations, offering valuable insights into their habitat and conservation needs. This event promises to be both educational and engaging for students, connecting them directly with wildlife conservation efforts and will give students the opportunity to engage in hands-on learning about one of Australia’s most iconic and elusive creatures, the platypus.

“Let Your Light Shine” support others to let their light shine and remember “We Shine Brighter Together”
