Head of Sport Report
As we begin the new summer sports season, I would like to emphasise the role that both training and games play in a player's development and success. Attendance at both is compulsory for all team members.
Training is necessary so that you can develop your skills, improve fitness, and learn to work as a team. It’s an essential part of our program, providing the foundation for success during games. By attending all training sessions, players not only enhance their own abilities but also contribute to the team’s overall performance. Missing training impacts not only the individual but the whole team, as it disrupts team preparation. As the school provides external coaches, it is important to remember that they are giving up their time to coach and in many cases leave work early to meet school training times.
The ISA Games offer you the opportunity to put what you have learnt at training into practice, face real competition, and learn valuable lessons about teamwork, strategy, and perseverance. Consistent participation in games builds confidence and a better understanding of the sport. Your attendance at games ensures that your team can put forward the best team.
This season, we have had a large number of students eager to play for BMGS, which means positions on teams are highly competitive. As a result, we have a waiting list of reserves. Please ensure that you prioritise your team for the season. Thank you for your ongoing support of BMGS sport.
Congratulations
Netball
Congratulations again this fortnight to Olivia Harris, who after being selected in the NSWCIS Open Netball team, she competed at the NSW All Schools Championships where she was selected in the NSW All Schools Merit Team. Well done Olivia.
Summer Sport Teams
Teams have now been finalised across all sports for summer.
Tennis
Tennis will commence on the First Friday back at school next term. Those wishing to purchase the BMGS tennis uniform can do so from the Uniform Shop.
Students are required to get changed straight after school and then head down to the tennis courts on Falls road.
Please ensure that you are ready to start by 3:30 pm. Parents are required to pick up at 4:30 pm.
Touch Football
All teams have been finalised and training will be run every Tuesday starting Week 1 Term 4 from 3:15 until 4:45 pm. All students need to finalise their uniform as soon as possible. Stock is available in the Uniform Shop.
Basketball
All teams have now been selected. If you were previously in a BMGS Basketball team you will need to supply your playing number to Mrs McLeod in the Uniform shop to ensure that there are no double-ups of playing numbers.
This can be done via email to uniformshop@bmgs.nsw.edu.au
All students who have not previously played for BMGS need to purchase their uniform by the end of Week 1 Term 4.
