Farewell Year 12 and Thank You for the Music
Congratulations to all our Year 12 Music 1 students: Molly Jarman, Zoe Bourke, Sienna Coleman, Callum Knussen, Samuel Gander, Nathan Hilder, Jonathan McHugh, Orlando Aguirre and William Louis, who completed the practical component of their HSC Music Exam last Monday.
This is a huge achievement and the culmination of many years of practice. Well done everyone!
As Term 3 draws to a close and Year 12 departs, I would like to take the opportunity to acknowledge their contribution to the musical life of the school over many years. Each of them has demonstrated commitment and leadership in their various roles, and they will be greatly missed by all of us in the Music Department.
Thank you for attending countless rehearsals and performances. It has truly been a pleasure to watch you grow and mature as musicians. I sincerely hope that music continues to play a part in their future. To conclude I have taken some liberty with lyrics of the iconic Swedish pop band Abba:
‘We say thank you for the Music,
the songs we’ve sung,
Thanks for all the joy you’ve brought
How can we live without you? We ask in all honesty
What would life be?
Without a song or a score, what are we?
So we say thank you for the music
For sharing it with us!’
Encore Nomination
Congratulations to William Louis who has been nominated for the HSC Music Practical Showcase ENCORE, which takes place at the Sydney Opera House each year. This is a fantastic and well-deserved achievement, acknowledging Will's musical prowess and hard work preparing his performance program. In order to be nominated for ENCORE, students need to receive a perfect score (20/20) for each of their performances - well done Will!
