Year 8 Boys Black Ranges Basketball

Horsham College ventured down the highway to Ararat for the 2nd day in a row, this time it was the Year 8 Boys turn to compete at the Black Range Basketball Competition.

 

We had a full bus making up three teams all boys should be very happy with the way conducted themselves throughout the entire day, Mr Dorward and Jason where very impressed you displayed all our school values, well done.

 

HC 2 & HC 3 played some impressive team basketball although not winning any of their three pool matches all games were close and competitive.

 

Congratulations to HC 1 who went throughout the day undefeated and won the final against Ararat College in a very close game, the team was pushed all the way until the end winning 25 to 21.

 

The boys will now move onto the Greater Western Region Championships in Ballarat which will be played at Selkirk Stadium on Thursday 7th November along with our Year 7 & Year 8 Girls teams.

 

Well done again to all our students who have played basketball over the past few days, Mr Bruce, Mr Dorward, Brooklyn and Jason have been very impressed with the way all students have conducted themselves, great effort.

Year 7 Girls Black Range Basketball

Horsham College took two year 7 girls teams to compete in the Black Range Basketball on Tuesday the 3rd of September held at the Horsham Basketball Stadium. It was a fantastic day, with both teams demonstrating team work and sportsmanship!!

 

HC B team had never played basketball before however were lucky enough to come home with a draw, excellent work girls!

 

Congratulations to HC A team who were undefeated for the whole day, the girls demonstrated strong game play and excellent defence throughout the day, super effort girls.

 

HC A team will now proceed to the Greater Western Region Championships held at the Selkirk Stadium in Ballarat on Thursday 7th of November!!

Year 8 Girls Black Range Basketball

On Wednesday 4th of September Horsham College had two Year 8 girls team represent at the Black Range Basketball tournament, the girls had some tough competition throughout the day. 

 

HC B team had a fun day of shooting a few 3s and working together to come away with 2 wins for the day well done girls!

 

Our HC A team had an amazing day being undefeated, the girls tried out some brand new basketball plays which worked out perfectly in there game situations. Super effort girls 

 

These girls will also travel down to Ballarat with the Year 7 to compete in the Greater Western Region Basketball Championships on the 7th of November.

Year 7 Greater Western Region Volleyball

On Tuesday the 10th of September, a year 7 boys team and year 7 girls team represent Horsham College at the Greater Western Region Volleyball held at Holy Trinity Lutheran College!!!

 

The Boys team and Girls team demonstrated excellent plays which developed into impressive rallies and were lucky enough to come away with a few points, Both teams should be extremely proud of themselves for their second place. Super effort.

Year 7 State Netball

A huge congratulations to our amazing Year 7 Girls Netball team who travelled to Melbourne to compete in the 2024 Year 7 State Netball Championships at the Waverley Netball Centre.

 

This amazing team qualified for State Titles by winning our local Black Range and then the Greater Western Region competitions.

 

We played three pool games winning two and loosing one, this was enough to qualify for the cross over semifinals.

  • Game 1 was against Sacred Heart Kyneton, winning 24 – 10
  • Game 2 was against Frankston High, winning 21 – 14
  • Game 3 was against Catherine McAuley Bendigo, losing 15 – 25
  • Semifinal against Rowville Secondary College, losing 15 - 28

Semifinal match was played against the very talented Rowville Secondary College Academy team.  The girls played their heart out and did not look out of place against some very large Melbourne schools, an amazing experience for them all.

 

A huge thank you to all the parents who travelled to Melbourne to come and support the students and to Mrs McKenry for coaching and supporting the girls throughout the day.

 

Well done girls on your amazing efforts you represented Horsham College with pride, we are very proud of you all and you should all be proud of yourselves.
