Year Four - Spotlight on Learning
Dear Parents,
This week students have finished reading our class novel, Storm Boy and completed their Information Reports on “The Coorong.” It was great to hear students recount their favourite part of the story.
Students had a special visitor to the classroom on Tuesday with Sister Julie coming into the Bethany Community to share her knowledge around the Eucharist. Students actively engaged and participated in this lesson and showed great respect to Sister.
Religious Education focus:
Next week students will be looking at how scripture is part of the Mass and completing a post assessment about Passover and Eucharist.
Mathematics focus:
Students will be using their place value knowledge of tenths and hundredths to convert decimal notation to name and represent decimals.
English focus:
Students will be watching the movie “Storm Boy” and comparing it to the novel we have just read. They will be looking at the narrative structure, setting and character development over the course of the movie. If you haven’t done so already, please sign the permission form on PAM so that students can participate in this learning.
Social/ Emotional Learning & RRRR:
Next week students will continue to learn about gender-based violence and they will give examples of various forms of gender-based violence, including physical, verbal and psychological. They will be able to describe the impact that gender-based violence might have on people who witness or experience it, as well as those who enact the violence.
Auslan:
In Auslan students will be completing a Post Assessment of their knowledge of Unit 5 and 6.

Reminders
With the current weather in mind - jumpers, jackets/coats and warm apparel is important during recess and lunch plays. Sometimes students may get dirty or wet. It would be strongly encouraged to pack some spare clothing items in their bags, just in case.
