In our recent unit of Inquiry, our Prep students embarked on a fascinating exploration under the theme, Where We Are in Place and Time. This inquiry focused on personal histories, the concept of home, and the various journeys that shape who we are, our town Shepparton. Through hands-on learning and creative thinking, students had the opportunity to reflect on their own experiences and imagine different ways of living.
As part of their Investigations, some of our Prep students took on the exciting challenge of building home shelters using natural materials from our schoolyard. Sticks, leaves, and gum nuts became the foundation for imaginative structures that sparked conversations about what makes a home, the importance of shelter, and how people around the world create homes using what’s available in their environments.
This activity strengthened the students' connection to nature and deepened their understanding of sustainability, resourcefulness, and the diverse ways people live in harmony with their surroundings.
We are proud of the creativity and teamwork our Preps demonstrated, and we look forward to seeing how their understanding of "home" continues to evolve throughout the year.
Last week, our Upper Years Students truly shone at the Interschool Athletics Day! They gave their all in every event, showing not only skill and determination but also incredible sportsmanship. Our students supported each other and cheered on their peers from other schools, embodying the spirit of teamwork and community. Their efforts went beyond personal success, as they helped others achieve their best and represented our school with pride and respect. It was a day filled with energy, camaraderie, and achievement, and we couldn't be prouder of how they conducted themselves both on and off the field.
We are thrilled to announce that Audrey Gacus, a talented Grade 3/4 student, has been named the overall winner of the Water Week: A Watery Adventure competition for the entire GV area! Audrey’s entry, a beautifully illustrated and creatively written book, stood out among many submissions, earning her this prestigious recognition.
Audrey's book has already been published in hard copy, and we’re excited to share that a digital version will be available soon for everyone to enjoy. Her work is not only engaging but also showcases her incredible artistic talents. Her book will be shared with Kindergartens in our Goulburn Valley Area.
We are so proud of Audrey for this outstanding achievement and can’t wait to see her share her book with the whole school. Join us at our upcoming assembly on Monday, 21st October, where Audrey will present her book and talk about her experience in this wonderful competition.
Please join us in congratulating Audrey for her creativity, hard work, and success!
