Year 9 Update
As the school holidays approach, our Year 9 students have been enjoying a range of exciting activities to make the end of term both fun and meaningful. Throughout the year, they've participated in various Challenge Programs, from the City Challenge in Term 1 to the English Challenge last term. Now, they're tackling the final piece of their Challenge program — the Languages Challenge!
This week, students are working in groups to explore what life is like for girls their age in different countries. Each group was paired with a guest speaker to interview, including Elnaz, a ceramicist from Iran; Reveka, a café owner from Venezuela; Alexis, a woman from Kenya; and Omaiha, a woman from Sri Lanka. Through these interviews, students are gaining insight into the lives, challenges, and experiences of girls in these countries, comparing them to their own lives.
At the end of the week, students will present their findings to the Year 9 cohort, highlighting both the unique and shared experiences they’ve uncovered. To finish off the program, they’ll also cook a traditional meal from their guest’s home country. It's sure to be a fantastic culmination to a busy term!
