Year 7 Zoo Excursion

The Year 7 class went on an educational excursion to Melbourne Zoo on Monday and had fun learning about the structural and behavioural adaptations of different animals. They made scientific observations of different species and completed some tasks in a booklet before being allowed to roam the zoom and visit their favourite animals.

The students witnessed lots of animals basking in the afternoon sun but there were also dramatic moments with monkeys squabbling loudly in their enclosure and hungry seagulls getting too close for comfort during our lunch break. The Sumatran tiger came close to the viewing area which was wonderful as did the two male lions who surprised onlookers with some half-hearted wrestling.

All in all, it was a great day despite a chilly morning and the students behaved beautifully during the entire trip. Many thanks to Simon Chau for driving the bus and taking some of the group photos.
