As we reach the end of a busy and productive Term 3, we reflect on the many achievements and milestones that have shaped the past weeks. From the classroom to fundraising for Connor’s Run, and from the stage to the sporting field, our Senior School students have shown resilience, dedication, and a strong sense of community. As the term draws to a close, we wish all our families a restful and joyful break, with time to recharge and connect. We look forward to seeing everyone refreshed and ready for the final term of the year ahead.
The House Captains share their reflection of our recent House activities.
The House activities on Thursday 5 September were a great opportunity for all Houses to communicate and collaborate again after our sports carnivals had finished. With such a small and loving cohort this year, we were able to branch out from the usual Just Dance and chalk drawings to a more expressive and collaborative activities of bracelet making and cupcake decorating!
There were many acts of friendship and love - girls making bracelets as gifts for each other, giving them to teachers and making them for family. It was a colourful reminder of our close-knit community. Having students work together from Year 1 to Year 12 always fosters new and exciting relationships. It’s safe to say that this last House activities session was the most heart-warming and memorable one of them all. - Sasha K, Alannah L, Alice J & Hannah C
This year, we have been incredibly proud to support the work of the Robert Connor Dawes Foundation by creating a Shelford Team for Connor’s Run. We were fortunate to have Liz Dawes share Connor’s story, as well as her own, during one of our assemblies this term, inspiring our students to participate in any way they could. We congratulate Octavia T and Stephanie D for spearheading this campaign and driving it from the grassroots level. Please read below for Octavia and Stephanie’s reflection on the fundraising campaign.
Connor's Run was an opportunity for the Shelford community to come together for a good cause. Pediatric brain cancer is the number 1 killer amongst youth, and as a community we were excited to be able to support this cause. Through the bake sale and gate duty on Go Grey in May Day our students raised over $700 and our community raised a total of $1519 for this worthy cause. Our Connor's Run team was 30 people strong (made up of students, staff and friends) and we thank everyone who got their walking and running shoes on, on Sunday! Every effort that we have made goes towards a good cause and we are glad to be able support this wonderful foundation in our final year! - Octavia T & Stephanie D
Recently, I shared with the community our Transition Program, designed to support and equip our students as they prepare for their next schools. Last Friday, our students transitioning to Caulfield enjoyed small group tours at the Caulfield campus, while those moving to other schools participated in a workshop focused on recognising their character strengths and building future connections. The workshop was well received, with students enjoying the opportunity to discover their top strengths and collaborate with peers from different year levels. Please see below for key Term 4 dates, times, and activities.
