From the Principal
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
As we near the commencement of Term 4, I hope you have all enjoyed a restful break and are ready for the exciting months ahead. This term is always a vibrant and busy time, filled with end-of-year celebrations, significant events, and the culmination of the hard work our students have put in throughout the year. I look forward to sharing these with you as we continue to work together to support our students' growth and success.
We look forward to welcoming three new students to the College, enrolled in the Secondary School. On Tuesday 8 October we will host our Year 7 2025 Orientation Day. With approximately 80 students registered to attend, it promises to be an engaging and informative experience for both students and parents, providing a glimpse into what they can expect as they transition into Secondary School. Additionally, our next Principal-led Tour is scheduled for Wednesday 16 October, followed by a Head of Primary-led Tour on Thursday 17 October. I’m pleased to share that both tours are nearing capacity.
Whilst it is wonderful to welcome new students to our Clayfield family, Term 4 also provides the chance to reflect on the many achievements and opportunities that 2024 has presented. It is a time which we start to consider the exciting possibilities that 2025 have in store. An important aspect of this reflection is to better understand ‘what is working well’ and ‘it would be better if’.
I thank all families again who recently completed the MMG survey. This comprehensive whole-school review helps to inform the opportunities that will enhance, extend and refine the Clayfield experience. We expect the findings of this review any day now and I look forward to sharing the findings with you in the coming weeks. Thank you also to the Primary School families who joined us at the end of last term for the Primary Information Session, where we explored the Upper Primary and Secondary School offerings. Not only did this session afford the opportunity to share with families about the Clayfield offerings, but it also provided another opportunity to better understand the questions you may have about the Clayfield journey.
The construction of our Design Technology Fabrication Workshop and new classrooms has made significant progress over the break, with the project now above ground and walls being built. The temporary demountable classrooms were completed last term and are now fully operational for classroom learning while the project continues.
We are delighted to welcome back Ms Stefanie Palmer who is returning from maternity leave on a part-time basis. Joining our staff is Mrs Rebecca Geevarghese as a Secondary Teacher in English and Humanities, Mr Shane Hargreaves as a Maintenance Tradeperson, and Mrs Lisa Humphrys as our new College Receptionist. Please join us in making them feel welcome in our Clayfield College community.
As Year 12 embark on the final stretch of their schooling journey at the College, I wish the cohort all the best as they prepare for their external ATAR exams. I am confident that the hard work and dedication they have invested in their studies will be duly rewarded and that their light will shine brightly in their exams and beyond. Good luck Year 12!
Next term we will celebrate our end of year events, including the announcement of our 2025 Student Leaders, LUX Exhibition, our annual Speech Night and Primary Presentation Morning, Year 12 Farewell Assembly, and Year 6 Celebration Service, amongst many other events. I look forward to seeing you at these various events and thank you again for your continued support.
Kind regards,
Dr Andrew Cousins
Principal
