Acting Principal's Report

We have had a very busy start to Term 4, and it is great to see our students back to school after the holiday break. Our senior Year 5/6 students enjoyed their adventure at Coonawarra Camp and did well to be ready on the first Wednesday back.

Students in Year 4 had a highly successful week attending the swimming program. The swim school reported that our students were amazing, and they really enjoyed having them this week. Thank-you to all students who attended, and demonstrating respect, it is lovely to receive positive feedback about our students.

Basketball Courts

I’m pleased to report that the outside basketball courts have finished their works, and the courts are now open for use. We will go back to Year 3-6 using the courts during break time, and whole school during learning time. The new line markings have been completed  for basketball and netball.

World Teachers Day

I invite you to join me in celebrating the amazing work of our teachers on Friday 25th October. World Teachers' Day is an opportunity to say thank you to the teachers who continue to make a difference today – and everyday – to children and young people’s lives. We are very proud and appreciative of our Teaching Staff and acknowledge their dedication to our profession and our school community, Thank-you!

Cheer Toasty Fundraiser

Mrs Mackenlay returns to school this Monday, just in time for our next school community fundraiser, Cheer Toasties. We would like to thank our community, for your participation and we will provide you an update of money raised for our ‘Buddy Bench’, in the next Newsletter.

Professional Practice Day

Teachers will be undertaking their Professional Practice Day, on Monday 4th of November. This is a student free day and TeamKids will be available to families that require supervision. Teacher work will include planning, preparation, assessment of students learning, collaboration and curriculum development.

Planning for 2025

Term 4 is always dominated with planning for the following year, class and staff selection, budgets, enrolments and more. Can families please let the office know if they are intending to leave our school at the end of the year, so we can finalise class structures, as finding staff is incredibly challenging at this time of year.

Whole School Transition

Our whole school transition program will begin in November, this helps students prepare and adapt to their new year level in 2025.  In week four, staff will be asking their students to nominate four friends they would like in their class in 2025, this will assist them to create new class lists.  Students will usually get at least one of their nominated friends in their class.

In November, students will be placed into groups and will begin our transition sessions. The first few transition sessions that students participate in are not the final classes for 2025, but an opportunity for staff to observe different students together, making changes to groups to find the best fit for each class.  Developing classes takes a lot of time as there are so many different factors to consider.

The dates for our whole school transition sessions are:

Friday 22nd November

Friday 29th November

Tuesday 10th December (whole school transition day where students meet their 2025 classroom teacher and classmates)

Monday 16th December

Foundation 2025 Transition

Our first transition session for our Foundation 2025 cohort is on Tuesday 22nd October from 9.45-10.30am.  Our staff are extremely excited to be welcome new students into our school and look forward to building relationships.  Staff have been busy preparing name badges and activities in preparation for this session.  Students will be participating in a range of activities, so they can start to become comfortable in this new setting. They will begin forming new friendships and relationships with different students and staff.  All transition sessions over the next few months will have a different focus, and the more sessions they participate in, the more comfortable they will feel when beginning Foundation next year.

This Term, our Year 6 students will participate in both a graduation night and their 'Big Day Out' to Gumbuya World.
