Year 12 Snow Camp
On the 12th to the 13th of August the Year 12 Outdoor Ed class ventured to Mount Baw Baw to take on the adventure of lifetime for our last camp of our secondary career. The first day was spent on the bus where we stopped in Moe for lunch, back on the road, we made our way to our accommodation where we lugged all of our luggage up and down the snowy slopes of Mount Baw Baw. After, we set forth and got fitted into our snowboarding gear and explored the village and its facilities. We then made dinner and settled in for the night so we'd be well rested for the busy day the head of us.
The sun rose early in the morning with the birds chirping signalling that our lesson to learn how to be the best snow boarders ever was about to begin. The lesson started off with us learning basic knowledge on how to use the board, then we went down a hill sideways to learn how to stop when going down a hill and learnt how to use the T-bar where we all fell on our bottoms. We then were pushed down a hill where other boarders where going at rapid speeds. Students then took on the challenge of going down the hill from the very top, us on the other hand instead, gave up and made snowmen, those who didn't succeed joined us with our snowmen making. We then got a little hungry and decided it would be best to seek some food and shelter at the restaurant where we were able to get hot chippies and WIFI. Overall great chippies and bad signal but we wouldn’t change this for the world. Sadly, we had to leave our lovely place that we called home for a night to get on the way home to our families that we had missed dearly. We then got Maccas for dinner at the Officer petrol station where the KFC people took for ever to give us our food. The class then journeyed back home where our loved ones had waited and prayed that we made it home safely.

Year 7 Girls Basketball
On Tuesday, September 17th, the Year 7 Girls A and B Basketball teams competed in the Northern Peninsula Division tournament, held at Patterson River Secondary College, which gave us a bit of a home court advantage.
Both teams played three matches each, facing off against Frankston High, EMC and McClelland. The A team secured a 29-23 victory over EMC, but lost 19-45 to a strong Frankston High team and narrowly fell 22-26 to McClelland. They finished 3rd overall in the A pool. A special thanks goes to Year 8 EXCEL Sport students Giaan and Holly, who supported andcoached the team, greatly enhancing their performance with their basketball expertise and encouragement.
The B team began with an impressive 50-2 win over EMC, went down against a tough Frankston High team with a 14-23 loss, but ended on a positive note with a 20-8 victory against McClelland.
All the girls demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship, teamwork and skill. Congratulations to everyone for their great efforts!
Year 8 Boys AFL
One of the great joys of teaching is seeing students excel in and out of the classroom. This year we have been fortunate to have a very talented group of Year 8 boys who love playing AFL. We started training around 4 weeks before our Divisional playoff in the last 2 weeks of Term 2 and the boys showed a great level of commitment in training, but we did not know how we would go on the day.
On the day, we had 3 games against quite strong schools. In each game the boys stuck to our game plan, which was to spread hard with the ball, man up without the ball, work as a team well, defend, force mistakes and hit our targets when we had the ball. This resulted in clear wins against Frankston High, EMC, and Carrum Downs. Our boys played bravely and never stopped trying, we had to win our last game and at half time we were 5 points down. Courageously we were able to come from behind and win this, we were able to take out the championship on the day.
Our next competition level was against very strong schools in the next division. We trained for around 5 weeks for this, 2 lunchtimes a week. We were able to win our first 2 games against Albert Park College and Mornington SC. We were in the final against Beaumaris SC, for the last game. The boys gave this game everything, started really well, but found the opposition tall and strong. This does not take away from their tremendous effort and application. This team truly represented our school and themselves proudly with integrity and showed all our school values and more. They were an absolute delight to coach and be with, they looked out for each other with a great sense of brotherhood. A parent commented that all boys messaged one of our prime movers Lachie, who could not play in the final due to an injury. This was typical of this group of boys, they played for each other, not for themselves, they played for our school and this clearly showed all over the 2 days.
Congratulations boys, we can’t wait for next year.
We would like to thank Sports Coordinator, Mr McCall for all his organisation .
Kindly, Coaches Halabi and McCormack.
2024 STK Education Female Lightning Premiership
On Wednesday 4th September, Patterson River Secondary College entered a Year 9-12 Girls AFL team into the 2024 STK Education Female Lightning Premiership competition at Seaford Healthy Futures Hub. The girls played 4 games across the day of 2 x 8-minute halves. It was a fantastic opportunity for STK Education partner schools to engage in a female competition which was facilitated by AFLW athletes, SEDA College students and the St Kilda Football Club. The Patterson River Secondary College team only lost one game throughout the day to the eventual winners Siena College and had every opportunity to take out the day. It was an absolute pleasure coaching the girls and watching the depth of female AFL football in the community. Thank you to Mr McCormack for his assistance on the day.
