Dear fellow members of the JMSS Community,

I trust this Newsletter finds you all well. A much-needed break from the rigours and challenges of term three looms large. Congratulations to all staff and students on a fantastic term’s work. Term Three is always the busiest term of each year, with major events such as Harmony Day, the Biomedicine ImmersionDay, the JMSS Career Expo, various Information Nights regarding courses in 2025, the selection of the new cohort in Year 10 as well as a smaller group joining Year 11, the Music Camp, and Interstate Science Fairs in Queensland and Adelaide, with the world-famous JMSS Battle of the Bands on this week…..whew! Life is certainly varied and busy at JMSS and that’s the way we love it!

A reality we should be very proud of is that most of these events are student-driven and led. It is a credit to the energy, spirit of endeavour and willingness to get everyone involved which is now, and to be fair, always has been, an important feature of our students and the effective ways they work together to enrich life for everyone here at the school. Long may that continue.

Practice Exams in Week 2 of the Holidays

Students doing one or more Unit 3, 4 subjects should note the timing of practice exams in the second week of the holidays here at school. Attendance at these practice exams is compulsory. Students in the pasthave all found them to be EXCELLENT preparation for the real thing which follows in a few weeks, with thefeedback they receive from their performances being a key to accessing the improvement they need..

New Students in 2025

The offers to the students who will form the new Year 10 cohort for 2025 were sent last week and we are currently working through the processes in place to welcome them to JMSS at a special Information Night early in term four. No doubt they are excited by the prospects which await them but will also be nervousabout changing schools. That is where our current Year 10s will play a key part in welcoming them to JMSSlater in Term Four and helping them get used to their new surroundings prior to starting full-time in 2025.

Farewell to Year 12 – Thank You and Sincere Best Wishes for the Future

At the same time as we are welcoming new students, we will sadly soon be saying goodbye to another Year12 cohort who have indeed been wonderful ambassadors for their school and incredibly supportive of one another. We look forward to guiding you all through the final weeks of your secondary education and celebrating the significant milestone in your academic lives which awaits. We all know there is still much work to do but we have every confidence you will meet and even exceed your own expectations. And as always, YOU WILL DO THIS TOGETHER. No-one unsupported, no-one left behind, and every one of you rightly confident you can achieve your best if you stay the course, work together, help one another, and BELIEVE IN YOURSELVES.

We certainly believe in all of you!

My best wishes to all staff, students and families for a fantastic well-earned break. I look forward to seeing everyone back at JMSS fit and raring to go for the start of term four.

Best Regards
