Year 7 & 8
Head of Year, Mr Thomas Dempers
It has been a fast paced and rewarding start to the year for our Year 7 and 8 students, with many positive moments shaping a strong foundation for the months ahead.
Across both year groups, students have demonstrated a commitment to our school values through their efforts in the classroom, their involvement in co-curricular opportunities and the way they support one another in daily school life. There have been many commendations awarded across the term, and students will be receiving merit certificates shortly in recognition of their consistent effort and positive contributions.

For our Year 7 cohort, the transition into secondary school has been impressive. Students have embraced new routines, expectations and environments with confidence and enthusiasm. It has been encouraging to see friendships develop naturally, especially given the wide range of primary schools represented within the cohort. Key experiences included Orientation and Transition Days, Year 7 Camp, and Picnic in the Park, all of which have supported students in building connections and confidence. The Year 7 social is also coming up.

Our Year 8 students have continued to grow in both independence and maturity. As the more experienced members of the Middle School, they have begun to set the tone for younger students through their participation, leadership, and approach to learning. Many students have taken positive steps in managing their time, organising their studies, and contributing in class. It has also been pleasing to see students step outside their comfort zones, whether through co-curricular involvement, performances, or representing the school in various activities. With their Year 8 Camp approaching, there is a great sense of anticipation, and it will provide a valuable opportunity for students to further develop resilience, teamwork, and independence.

As we look ahead to next term, students are encouraged to continue building strong habits that support their learning and wellbeing. Maintaining consistent routines, staying organised with their work, and minimising distractions in class will be key areas of focus. Taking small, deliberate steps each day to remain engaged and prepared will help students continue their positive progress and make the most of the opportunities ahead. Thank you to all families for your continued support.
