Mr Andrew Monk, Director of Boarding
The recent long weekend proved a successful time for our Year 12 boarders, working hard at their examination study and preparation. Whilst younger boarders found the time to delve into some hobbies and adventures.
Sofiya in Year 7 spent a weekend with a host family in Warrnambool. One of the benefits of boarding for our international students is that our local families will open their doors for a homestay. If you are interested in hosting, please be in contact with myself or Penny Callinan.
Boarders also viewed the long weekend as a time for adventure. Will and Harry were able to access some fantastic hiking trails in the Grampians. This spirit of curiosity in the outdoors is amazing and with Dunkeld and Halls Gap so close it is no wonder boarders get out and explore.
Josie and Kinzie spent some of their long weekend in Hamilton, and Nat Povey (MOD) guided the girls through some cooking lessons, with an amazing birthday cake prepared by the girls for Houseparent Lise.
Happy birthday Lise and well-done girls on your wonderful effort.

The first Tuesday in November marks the annual Melbourne Cup as it springs into action. This year, boarders got together to organise a sweep and watch the race. Congratulations to Poppy, who was the lucky boarder to come out on top for 2025.

Our boarders quickly get themselves involved in activities offered by College. It can be challenging to step outside your comfort zone, but it is essential to persist with your efforts and give many experiences a try. Camilla has proven to stick with her efforts in rowing and has embraced others who want to give it a go, such as Donna. I’m so impressed by the inclusive nature of the boarders and how they extend their welcome to all. Well done, Camilla, on your leadership and being our Boarder of the Week.

It was great to see past Boarding Captain (2024) Charlie Mahar drop by last week and say hello.
It is always special to have Old Collegians stay connected and keep in touch. Charlie wanted to say hi to staff and catch up with boarders, but most importantly, he wanted to congratulate Finn Dennis on his Boarding Captaincy role for 2026.
Thanks, Charlie, for dropping by, and all the best with your Engineering degree next year.
