SMASH Program

This term, our Year 9 students participated in the SMASH Program — an engaging and educational workshop designed to raise awareness about the impacts of alcohol and drug misuse among young people. Delivered through a live theatre performance and interactive discussion, the SMASH Program offered students the opportunity to explore real-life situations and reflect on how choices can affect their health, safety, and future.

The session combined powerful storytelling with practical education, encouraging students to think critically about peer pressure, decision-making, and the importance of support networks. Following the performance, students took part in guided discussions where they shared their perspectives, asked questions, and explored positive strategies for managing challenging social situations.

Feedback from students was overwhelmingly positive, with many commenting on how relatable and thought-provoking the performance was. Staff also noted the value of the program in complementing our school’s ongoing wellbeing and health education initiatives.

Programs like SMASH play an important role in helping our young people make informed choices and develop confidence to stand up for their values. We are proud of the maturity and respect our Year 9 students demonstrated throughout the session and look forward to continuing these important conversations.
