Principal's Update

Dear Parents and Carers,

Each year, at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, we pause to honour all who have served, and those who gave their lives, in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations. On this day in 1918, the guns of the Western Front fell silent, marking the end of the First World War.

On Tuesday, we gathered to reflect on the service and sacrifice of the brave men and women who have worn our country's uniform. We remember those who never returned to their families, those who bear the physical and mental scars of conflict, and the innocent victims of hatred and terror. Their sacrifice has secured the peace and freedom we enjoy today.

When we observe our minute of silence, we ensure that those who made the ultimate sacrifice are never forgotten. "They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them".

Lest We Forget.

A Prayer for Remembrance Day

Almighty and eternal God, creator of mankind and author of peace, may we be mindful of the cost paid for the liberty we possess. We hold before you the memory of those who have died for their country and in the service of peace, and we commend them to your eternal mercy and compassion.

Grant rest, O Lord, to those no longer with us, and bring healing to those who, through their service, bear the scars of conflict on body or in mind. Comfort those who still mourn the loss of loved ones, and fill their hearts with the hope of your eternal joy.

Help us remember the cost of war, to work for a better tomorrow. Give our leaders wisdom and resolve in the search for reconciliation and peace among nations, that the design of your great love may lighten upon the waste of our wraths and sorrows.

May we, through our actions, be found worthy to inherit the peace they fought to secure, and may we never forget their sacrifice.

Amen
