Visual Art

The Visual Arts program has been active across all year levels this term as many levels are finishing up their first piece of work for the term.
Preps have been learning the fundamentals of pattern and structure through paper weaving, developing fine-motor skills and an understanding of colour relationships.
Grade 1 students have created close-up flower artworks inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe, applying dry pastel techniques to blend colour and emphasise enlarged details.
Grade 2 students have worked with plasticine to produce textured “drawings” in the style of Barbara Reid, focusing on composition and modelling methods.
Grade 3 students have explored foam printing and mixed media, learning key printing terminology and practising how to produce clean, consistent prints.
Grade 4 students have used Brushes Redux to develop digital paintings, experimenting with digital tools and layered mark-making.
Grade 5 students have worked in Google Draw and Slides to design artworks inspired by Jacob Hashimoto, combining shape, repetition, and digital composition.
Grade 6 students have been developing their final major piece: designing and decorating a skate deck, applying their accumulated skills to a resolved artwork.
