🎵 Musical Highlights from Term 4!

This term, the halls of Great Ryrie Primary have been alive with music! Our students have been exploring both the practical and theoretical sides of music-making — learning how rhythm, pitch, melody, and teamwork all come together to create something truly special.

Preps have been discovering the world of pitch — learning how notes are read, played, and combined to make simple melodies. It’s been a joy watching their faces light up as they recognise familiar tunes!

Grade 1s have taken their first steps as instrumentalists, learning to play the recorder. They can now play three notes confidently and are beginning to put them together into short songs.

Grade 2s have been building on their recorder knowledge and now know a range of notes. They’re playing more complex arrangements — including some fun rock-inspired pieces that have been a big hit in class!

In Grades 3 and 4, students are participating in music rotations, where they’re studying the iconic theme from The Addams Family. They’ve been learning to perform it on a variety of instruments, including percussion, keyboards, and recorder — and the results are sounding fantastic!

Our Years 5 and 6 students are continuing their musical journey with a song study of I’m a Believer, following on from our production of Shrek Jr. They’ve been exploring the song across multiple instruments, including keyboard, recorder, and percussion, showcasing great collaboration and creativity.

We’re excited to announce that our Festive Family Picnic and Christmas Concert is back again this year! Each year level will perform a special item, along with our Christmas Choir and our newly established Concert Band in their very first public performance.

Families are encouraged to come dressed in festive attire and enjoy a relaxed evening of music and celebration. There will be:

It’s the perfect way to celebrate another amazing year together, surrounded by friends, family, and the sound of joyful music.
