F-4 Community News

Years 1 and 2
Students in Years 1 and 2 have been enjoying our Inquiry unit on Dreamtime Stories.
Over the past few weeks, we have listened to many stories such as 'How the birds got their colours' before decorating our own colourful birds.
We also enjoyed looking into Aboriginal symbols and how these are used in artwork, before painting our own artwork using these symbols.
Preparations have begun for our much-loved F-4 Carols event - this will be held on Thursday 4th December. Keep an eye out for a letter with information regarding costumes you child may need - this will be coming home soon.
Other important dates to be aware of:
Thursday 27th November: F-4 Liturgy
Wednesday 3rd December: F-4 End of year Assembly
Wednesday 10th December: F-12 Awards Assembly
Thursday 11th December: F-12 Liturgy
Students will soon have an Orientation Day in December where they will transition to their new classes for 2026. Although a time of great excitement, this can also be a time of nerves and anxiety as we approach change. To prepare them for this, talk to your child at home about how they may be feeling and have a chat to your child's TA if you have any concerns.
The importance of reading at home!
Although we are getting near the end of the school year, we still encourage families to hear their children read regularly at home. Students not only consolidate the decoding skills learnt at school, but they also develop their vocabulary, comprehension, recognition and spelling of tricky or common words, and reading fluency. It is also important that children continue to be read to as well. See if you can find five minutes to share a book together at home too!
Years 3 and 4
Years 3 and 4 have had a busy few weeks beginning with Grandparents and Special Friends Mass. We welcomed our families and special people into the BC for a special mass with Father Uday, before games and giggles in our classrooms, then a lovely, filling BBQ lunch enjoyed by all.
The following day we travelled by bus to Tongala Primary School for Waranga Sports Day where we joined other schools from around the district for a fun day of games and activities.
