Dear Parents,

A lovely service of Remembrance was held on Tuesday, 11/11/25 at 11am. Thank you to our entire school for their respectful and heartfelt support of this special occasion. We then had Cruz and Jonty attend the Carillion to lay the wreath on behalf of our school. Thank you, everyone, for your involvement, and a special thank you to Ms Puebla and Mrs Guihot for their work coordinating the service.

Last Friday we held our Year 6 Mini Fete. What a spectacular day. The Year 6 children raised $3074.25, which is an outstanding job. The children now need to get together to decide what the Year 6 gift to the school will be. Thank you, Year 6, for a super time last Friday.

We are looking forward to the 2026 School Captain and Vice Captain nominee speeches to be held next Tuesday 18th November. The children will make their speeches in front of all children K-5, with voting taking place at the conclusion. Parents and friends are welcome to attend with speeches commencing at 9.30am in the McMullen Hall. House Captain and Vice Captain speeches as well as voting for these positions will take place in house meetings to be held on Tuesday afternoon.

The K-2 Athletics Carnival will be held next Friday 21st November from 9.15am-11.15am on the oval at school. The children will have a wonderful time with running races and many novelty games and activities on the event list. We welcome parents to come and cheer us on during the morning.

Our Swimming organisation is now well underway. Mrs Mitchell is working hard checking all permissions and grouping children into swimming groups. These groups may be changed after the first day based on ability and swimming needs. Further information will be sent home to parents next week outlining the groups children are in, their allocated swimming times and what they will require for swimming each day.

We have recently had many children from Bathurst Public School performing in the Carillion Junior Theatrical Society's production of  Peter Pan Jr at the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre. Well done to all of the BPS children involved.

We’re thrilled to share an exciting update on our upcoming Canteen Artwork Project! Bathurst Public School has partnered with talented local artist Calum to transform the canteen area into a vibrant and inspiring space that reflects the heart of our school community.

Calum, whose work can be seen in several stunning local installations (see examples below), will begin creating the mural in late December. His design will celebrate the creativity, diversity, and spirit of Bathurst Public School — a lasting legacy for our students, families, and staff to enjoy for years to come.

The project is a joint initiative between the P&C and the school, who have together committed the majority of the funding required. To bring this vision fully to life, we’re now inviting our school community to help raise the final $10,000 needed to complete the project. Every contribution, big or small, helps us achieve this incredible goal.

If you’d like to be part of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to leave your mark on our school, donations can be made via:

PC General Account

BSB: 082441

ACC: 425386324

(Please include your name so it can be added to the artwork’s donor list.)

We can’t wait to see Calum’s creativity in action and share the finished masterpiece with our whole school community early next year!

The staff are commencing conversations about class structures for 2026 and will commence working on staffing and designing classes throughout the later part of the school term. Many hours of work go into creating structures, staffing and designing every class. The school recognises the importance of fostering and maintaining friendship groups. We also understand that it is equally important for students to mix and learn with peers with different interests. Some details to assist parents with the process we are going through and how they can be involved in preparation for 2026 are outlined below;

  • Children are asked by their teacher around week 4/5 to nominate 3 children they would like to be in a class with; a minimum of 1 of the nominations is to be a child who is currently in another class. The school endeavours to ensure each child receives at least 1 of their nominated friends.
  • Parents are invited to make requests based on the academic and emotional needs of their child. Requests for class placements must be in writing, outlining who you are requesting your child to be placed with and why. Requests must be addressed to the Principal, Mrs White. All requests need to be received by Friday, 14th November 2025. As you can understand, we are not always able to accommodate class placement requests but will endeavour to take wishes into consideration where possible.
  • All teachers at Bathurst Public School are caring and committed educators. Bathurst Public strives to ensure that all children are provided with a high-quality education so they can 'Believe, Belong and Succeed'. Whilst we appreciate that you may wish that your child would benefit from being placed in a class with a particular teacher, we are unable to accommodate teacher requests. Our school's Leadership Team (Principal, Deputy Principal, Assistant Principals and Learning and Support Team) have an in-depth understanding of each teacher's strengths and will always endeavour to place our students with teachers who are best placed to suit their needs.
  • If you know you will be moving in 2026 and your child/children will not be attending Bathurst Public School, would you please contact the office at school and let us know by Friday 14th November 2025, please.

If any parent has any concerns regarding any aspect of school life, please do not hesitate to contact me.
