A changing world - the shifts to protect
Over the past decade there have been robust conversations around what it is to be human in a time when we can be copied, deleted and, at times, weaponised. The Danish Government has focused on the fact that everybody has right to the way they look and sound. Using copyright laws the Government is developing a bill that protects people from generative AI deepfakes.
We are fortunate to have a governing body who also is prepared to take reasonable steps to manage the content our young people under the age of 16 create, view or keep. It has been published that from December 10 these restrictions for delaying account access are going into play.
Platforms can face fines up to $49.5 million dollars if they don’t take reasonable steps to implement the ban. The eSafety Commisioner has written that in their view, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Threads, Tik Tok, X, Kick and Reddit are age-restricted platforms. There is an understanding that this list is dynamic and will change.
Further information is available by clicking the following link- December 10 Social Media Regulations.
These platforms are integrated into our daily lives and the impacts of this will be faced at home. For some this will be a relief and for others a great stressor. Every family will respond differently. To support the transition better, the following information may be of help.
