Foundation

Class Information

The Foundation students have been very excited about our new investigation areas and have enjoyed exploring these areas during Investigation time.  Many students enjoy working in the hospital and healthy cafe, as well as being a patient in the hospital.  

 

If anyone has some boxes lying around, we are in need for some boxes for our collage area. 

PEVAN AND SARAH

On Monday the 10th of November, the Foundation students have an excursion to see Pevan and Sarah at the Ulumbarra theatre. This is a live performance which complements the learning we undertake in our classroom.  A permission form will be released today on PAM for parental consent. Students will leave the school at approximately 9:30am and travel by bus to Ulumbarra theatre. Students will return to school by 12:00pm. Pevan and Sarah are always an extremely exciting performance for the foundation students, and they are looking forward to attending.    

WEEKLY AWARDS

Each Monday afternoon, two students from each class will receive an award. This term, awards are given to students displaying the qualities of Catherine McAuley including, demonstrating dedication and a commitment to helping others, displaying a commitment to complete everything they start and showing compassion and understanding. Award winners will be acknowledged at the next assembly on the slide show. Congratulations to the award winners for Term 4 weeks 3 and 4.

GRANDPARENTS/SPECIAL PERSON DAY 

Thank you to all of the visitors who came along for our grandparents/special friends' day on Friday. It was lovely to have so many visitors in the foundation area, and the students were extremely excited to make their cards. 

FOUNDATION LEARNING FOCUS

Literacy  

  • Sounds- 'wh,’ ‘th,’ ‘oo’ ‘ing’ ‘ay’  
  • Introducing CVCC words 
  • Students are focusing on including capital letters, full stops and spaces between their words when writing sentences, as well as furthering their writing skills through writing independently.  
  • Students will be introduced to information texts and writing facts.  
  • Tricky words: want. some, come
