The Year 3s have had an excellent start to the year! In inquiry, we have been learning all about food choices and how they affect our health and wellbeing. We had Kelly from ‘The Curious Nutritionist’ run an incursion and guide us through a sensory tasting of some seasonal fruits and vegetables. Over the next few weeks, we are conducting an experiment about how quickly different foods go mouldy and the reasoning behind this. Students wrote a hypothesis at the start of the experiment and have been recording their observations each week.
Some wonderings from the students:
“Is eating too much fruit unhealthy?” - Hudson
“How much water do kids have to drink a day?” - Alyssa
“Does juice have sugar?” - Rehaan
“What is the most healthy fish to eat? - Jack
In Maths, students began to learn about data and graphing by displaying the colours of M&M's they received in a packet. They then looked at how we can read graphs and interpret data given to us. We will continue to explore graphing using digital tools as well.
What a fun start to the year!
