PREP AA

A big hello from the junior team. We have had a fabulous three weeks full of fun, growth and our very first excursion of 2024!

In Prep AA, we cannot believe that we have learnt ten letter sounds already! We have learnt about numbers up to ten, can identify numeracy resources that we use all the time and have enjoyed playing number warm up games that teach us about patience and turn taking with numeracy ideas. In History, we have been exploring families and how we are the same or different, ow technology has changed over the years and trying to make sense of time.

We have been working with hands on materials in numeracy to build number sense and lead with play-based learning to make numeracy both fun and exciting for the prep students. We have been learning to use tens frames, counters and dice and have been doing a fabulous job!

Indigenous Incursion:

We were lucky enough to be visited by Samantha Richards from Connecting Two World's Education Programs. The children all loved to meet Samantha and interact with her resources she brought with her. We enjoyed learning more about the land we live and learn on and listened beautifully to our guest.

Athletics:

We could not have asked for a better way to kick off excursions for the year. We all put on our brave hats to go into the bus and go to a new place. We left feeling like we are really part of the Officer Primary School team and were so proud to contribute house points to our houses! A huge thank you to all the families who came down to help and visit, it was an amazing day all around.

1/2 PB AND NP.

In reading, we have been investigating how nouns and verbs are used in sentences. Then how adjectives and adverbs are used to make our sentences even more engaging. In writing, we have been working on planning, drafting and producing our own narrative piece. In maths, we wrapped up place value for now and have moved into fractions.

On Thursday (29th), we had a special Indigenous incursion. Sam visited our grades and showed us some of her special Indigenous Australian artifacts, like possum skin and boomerangs. On Friday (1st), we had our Athletics Day. The kids had an absolutely fantastic day with lots of ribbons being won in the different events. On Tuesday (5th), it was Clean Up Australia Day. We had a great discussion about keeping our school clean and what types of things we can recycle. After lunch, we went around the oval picking up any rubbish we could see to make sure our school stays nice and clean.
