SPOTLIGHT

YEAR 1

What an amazing start we have had to Year 1!

We are enjoying our new classrooms and getting to know all of our classmates. Last week, our Year 1 students showcased their narrative writing skills by entertaining us with what would happen if they woke up with Super Powers. What amazing imagination skills our Year 1 students have. We cannot wait to see how they develop their writing skills throughout the year.

Year 1 happily put on their mathematician hats and used their knowledge of 2D Shapes and their properties to explain where we can find 2D shapes in the world around us, and how we can identify them by both their sides and vertices. We are currently exploring whole numbers and their place value.

Last week on Friday, the Year 1 students enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon meeting their new Year 5 buddies. We look forward to the rest of the term with Green Day, our annual colour run and the Easter Hat Parade. We look forward to making our Easter hats with our new buddies!

We have fun in Year 1!

MaST News - Parent Workshop

Make sure to join us in the auditorium following Primary open classrooms for a Parent Workshop delivered by Mr Unwin. We'll be looking at the importance of reasoning and communication in Mathematics and how we can build this skill in all students.

A little brain teaser to get your reasoning and communicating skills going. Which one of these is the odd one out? Make sure you can justify your answer.
