Senior School
Year 12 Student Leadership Conference
As usual, it has been a busy start to the year, with a variety of activities. Among those activities was the Year 12 trip to Melbourne on Monday 12th and Tuesday 13th February. We travelled by train, arriving on a warm day at Southern Cross Station to then walk to our accommodation at The Miami Hotel - a definite improvement on the hostel we stayed in last year.
Monday was devoted to team building activities and developing navigation skills. Students formed groups to travel around the CBD, with a list of creative points to visit along the way to take photos. Students met Mr Zeunert and I for dinner at Mr Zeunert’s favourite restaurant ‘The Universal’ on Lygon Street. After dinner, the group opted in to do an ‘adventure room’ team building activity.
Tuesday consisted of our attendance at the GRIP leadership conference where we had opportunities to listen to and discuss ideas around effective leadership in a school context. The day involved some large group sessions with all attendees together, along with break out groups in smaller sessions.
We finished the trip with some free time around DFO before boarding the train for the return trip. The highlight for many was the ‘adventure room’ and the ‘lockdown’ while in Bourke Street Mall - definitely an experience.
