Duty of Care Bill Town Hall Discussion
A special Town Hall meeting and discussion with Anjali Sharma, hosted by Zoe Daniel MP and Monique Ryan MP. Anjali Sharma is only 19 years old, and at the age of 16, was the lead litigant in a class action in the Australian Federal Court, against the Federal government for failing to consider the impacts of climate change. Sharma was also a finalist in the 2021 Children's Climate Prize, an International prize for climate activism, based in Sweden. Anjali has led the campaign for a Duty of Care Act – a new idea that would require the government to consider the effects its decisions have on future generations. The Duty Of Care Bill would require the government to consider the welfare of future generations when deciding whether to approve coal or gas projects. The discussion will be about whether a duty of care to young people should be enshrined in legislation.
