Harmony Day Picnic

Harmony Day is the celebration that recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values.. It is a time to celebrate Australian multiculturalism, and the successful integration of migrants into our community. Australia is one of the most successful multicultural countries in the world and we should celebrate this and work to maintain it.

Aberfeldie Primary School celebrated Harmony Day with a whole school picnic on Thursday March 21st. It was an amazing event as students and families wore either traditional cultural attire, or something orange in support of Harmony. We were treated to a beautiful sunny afternoon and it was lovely to see so many families participating, including parents, carers, siblings, grandparents, and broader family members.

The enormous range of cultural foods being shared including boreks, sushi, falafel, laddu, meat pies and so much more were so delicious. Thanks to everyone that brought in food to share with classmates and share a small part of our diverse cultures.
