Principal's Ponderings
From our Principal - Mr Chad Smit
Over the past four years we have all faced new challenges and lived through a season we thought would not occur in our lifetime. We have had served to us new character developing moments, being made to adapt and change to a new way of living, which we are grateful for now being mostly back to our normal. We also now face hearing on the news of more and more worldly conflicts, we cannot pray enough for those in other locations around the world significantly suffering. We pray, Lord bring shalom to your world.
Throughout all these events, and times, we know our Lord is omnipresent - present everywhere.
'Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.'
Psalms 139:7-10 NIV
Even in significant times of challenge or trial, Jesus is there with you. In times when we do wrong, or when things just are not going right, he is there too. He is near.
As a school, our focus in the primary school for the start of this year has been on the character trait of responsibility. With the continued news on war, sad news and significant illness all around us, can I encourage you as a parent, teacher and adult; our greatest responsibility is to demonstrate, to live out and to model, hope and faith in our Lord Jesus in times such as now. We need to be speaking the truth, that life at times can bring hardship and difficulties. It is in those times, as hard as they are, we need to choose to worship, to choose to be grateful, to choose joy in Him and stand firm, being unshakeable. Our Lord God always exists, everywhere, fully, presently, now, including with you as you read this.
In the times when we feel alone, the truth is, God is present. One of the names of Jesus, is Emmanuel, which means, God is with us. Today I believe if you are reading this, you need to be reminded that this is true, God is with you.
As we step into our day, let us be responsible Christian role models for our children, living out faith, hope and love and showing them they too are never alone, the Lord God Almighty is always with us. Even when we don’t have the answers.
'and surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.'
Matthew 28:20b NIV
'Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all'
'Grace, mercy, and peace will be with us, from God the Father and from Jesus Christ the Father's Son, in truth and love.'
'May mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you.'

Principal on Sabbatical Leave
Chad Smit, our Principal, is on a period of sabbatical leave until Wednesday 27th March. This leave is a pre-arranged period of time for Chad to rest, reflect and develop as a leader. The Board values Chad's leadership and, over 12 months ago, began planning for this extended period away.
It will be school as usual during this time, with Tom Evans and Alison Moore jointly leading in Chad's absence. Your child's class teacher remains your primary contact for immediate assistance. Leanne Crawford, the Executive Officer and Hanna Udy, the Board Chair, will also ensure DCS's smooth running.
If you would like to know 'who to contact' please go to this page https://www.dcs.tas.edu.au/back-to-school/ and scroll to the 'What do I do if . . .' to ensure you are connected with the right team member.
We ask for your support and encourage you to pray for Chad while he is away. We look forward to welcoming him back, refreshed and re-energised for the coming years.
