Return to School – Learning to Learn Program
As we settle into the new school year, we are implementing our Learning to Learn four-week program, which focuses on developing essential skills and mindsets for a successful year ahead.
Our current focus is on Building Relationships, as we recognise the importance of fostering strong connections between students, teachers, and peers. Developing positive relationships in the classroom helps students feel safe, valued, and supported in their learning environment. It encourages collaboration, respect, and open communication, which are essential foundations for academic success and personal growth.
During this time, students will engage in activities that promote teamwork, empathy, and effective communication. These experiences will not only strengthen friendships but also help build a culture of trust and respect across the Year 5 cohort. Strong relationships create a sense of belonging, which ultimately enhances student engagement and motivation.
NAPLAN 2025
A key milestone for our Year 5 students this year is NAPLAN, which assesses literacy and numeracy skills. NAPLAN will take place between March 12th – March 24th and will be conducted online. This assessment provides valuable insight into student progress and areas for further development. We encourage all students to approach the tests with confidence, and we will provide opportunities for practice and preparation in the lead-up to the assessments.
Uniform and SunSmart Policy
At Saltwater College, we take pride in our school uniform as it promotes a sense of belonging and respect. We kindly ask all students to wear the correct uniform each day, ensuring they present themselves in a neat and tidy manner.
As we are in the summer months, we also remind families that hats are compulsory during Term 1 and Term 4 when outdoors. Only bucket hats are permitted as part of our SunSmart policy. Students without a hat will be required to stay in the shaded areas during recess, lunch, and outdoor learning activities.
We appreciate your support in reinforcing these expectations at home and ensuring your child is set up for success.
We look forward to an incredible year of learning, growth, and achievement in Year 5. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need further information.
Thank you,
Michael Nicolaides
