Our Year 12s finally received their ATARs last Thursday, 12 December, with a mix of emotions. On Thursday and Friday, our Careers Practitioners worked closely with students and their families to help them navigate the Change of Preference period on VTAC, where students were able to reconsider their choices for tertiary education, based on their VCE results. We are extremely proud of how our students engaged with us and were willing to talk through their options at such a stressful time in their lives.
Year 12s are reminded that support is available to them from Mrs Jessie Dennison and Mr Tim Knowles as they progress into their future pathways and are welcome to contact us via email or phone. If any students require support through the VTAC offer period in December and January, they are welcome to message us via Teams.
We wish students all the best in their future endeavours and look forward to seeing what VTAC offer rounds bring.
These will arrive in your email (check your junk folder too) throughout the day.
They will be shown in your VTAC account from 2pm (10am in the December round).
The institution will email you directly with instructions on enrolment.
This will include details on how to defer.
ACCEPT THE OFFER!!!
You can always withdraw later if needed (check dates).
Please be aware that dates differ for International students – check VTAC.
After each offer round, there is a small window to change your preferences again.
Check VTAC dates carefully.
Don't bank on getting an offer in a later round – most are made in the December & the first January rounds.
Please aware that dates differ for International students – check VTAC.

We are excited to announce that we will be taking a group of Year 10-12 students on an overnight camp in 2025, with a focus on careers and pathways in aviation.
The camp will run Thursday 27 to Friday 28 March (arriving back at school at approximately 11pm). The cost will be approximately $200.
The camp will involve the following aspects:
A tour of Melbourne Airport, with a focus on careers and operations within the airport
A visit to the RAAF Museum in Point Cook
An overnight stay at a holiday park in Geelong
Attendance to the Careers Day at the International Avalon Airshow (exclusive to students!)
Staying on to watch the night show at the Avalon Airshow on the Friday night
If students are interested in attending, they are asked to please discuss with their parents/guardians then complete the following form: https://forms.office.com/r/fEhwHSR5eL
by Friday 31 January.
All Year 10 students are expected to source their own Work Experience placement, which will be held from Monday 26 to Friday 30 May. We ask students to start considering their options now and using their holidays to seek out a potential employer, as places can be quite competitive. Every year in Term 1, our Year 9 students complete a unit of work in the Explore program where they create a resume, cover letter and practise their interview skills. All of this culminates in a great opportunity for students to demonstrate their learning and gain real experience in a 'mock interview', where students 'apply' for a job then interview for the position. These interviews are conducted by a teacher, along with a member of the community. If any of our Wantirna College community members would be interested in volunteering on this day to help conduct these interviews, please contact Mrs Jessie Dennison.
We thank you in advance for your support with this great program.
