Calling All Businesses: Work Experience and Apprenticeship Opportunities
Parents and friends of Marist, we’re seeking your support to help our students succeed! If you’re able to offer an apprenticeship opportunity—school-based or full-time—we’d love to hear from you. Our most in-demand industries include electrical, plumbing, carpentry and heavy diesel but we’re eager to explore any opportunities that could benefit our students.
Additionally, if you’re able to provide work experience placements, we’d greatly appreciate your involvement.
For more information or to express your interest, please contact our Industry Liaison Officer in the VET and Careers Department, Beth Muller, at mullere@marash.qld.edu or call 07 3858 6463. Thank you for your ongoing support in shaping the futures of our students!
Congratulations to Jett Collison!
A big congratulations to Year 11 student, Jett Collison, on his outstanding achievement in his marine mechanical technology apprenticeship with Holt Marine in Everton Hills. Jett began his apprenticeship at the start of last year while he was still in Year 10 - a fantastic accomplishment at such a young age.
At the end of last year, Jett’s hard work and dedication were recognised when he was selected as one of just 150 finalists out of 4,000 apprentices across all trades for the prestigious Australian Apprentice of the Year awards. In his category, Jett was one of six finalists - a testament to his exceptional talent and commitment.
While he didn’t take out the top award this year, we are incredibly proud of Jett’s achievement and know this is only the beginning. With his determination and skill, we wouldn’t be surprised to see him take home the award next time.
Well done, Jett - you’re an inspiration to us all!
