Prayers

We remember in prayer beloved Marist Brother Ralph Arnell who died recently. Br Ralph’s funeral was celebrated at our College Chapel last week. We pray for all those in our community who are unwell at this time or grieving the loss of a loved one. As we begin the 2025 school year, we pray for all our staff, students and families.

Reflection on our 2025 theme “Pilgrims of Hope”

Our Marist theme this year, “Pilgrims of Hope”, draws from the theme of the global Catholic church during this 2025 Year of Jubilee. Pope Francis opened the Jubilee doors of St Peter’s Basilica in Rome, signifying the welcome to pilgrims who journey seeking the mercy and forgiveness of God.

To be a pilgrim of hope is to embrace a spiritual journey. It speaks of intentionally setting out on a path - the destination is important, but the journey (the Way) matters too. The earliest Christians were followers of “The Way” of Jesus – the Good News.

Our journey through life is one marked by encounters, encounters with God and with others, leading us to find hope in unexpected or surprising places.

Our Marist theme artwork reminds us that:

  • Hope can be found in the rising sun – the new day.
  • Hope is in the quiet companionship of others
  • Hope is in the smiling faces of children
  • Hope exists most powerfully of all where there is poverty, hardship and disadvantage

As we begin our year, you’re invited to reflect:

What gives me hope? How will I offer hope to others this year? How will I be a pilgrim of hope?
