Setting Up for Success in 2025

As the summer break approaches, it’s a wonderful opportunity for students and families to recharge, reconnect, and prepare for a new year of learning and growth. While the holidays are a time for fun and relaxation, there are also simple ways to help support your child’s learning and get them ready for the exciting challenges of the upcoming school year.

Encourage your child to continue reading throughout the break. Whether it’s exploring new adventures in novels, revisiting favourite stories, or diving into non-fiction about their interests. Reading builds not only literacy skills but also imagination and curiosity. Visit the Local library, as they often host summer reading programs that add a layer of fun.

Incorporating basic maths into daily life is another easy way to keep Maths alive in your child’s mind. Activities like measuring ingredients for cooking, calculating distances during trips, or even playing board games that involve numbers can make maths practise feel natural and enjoyable. These experiences help children see the relevance of maths in everyday life.

Finally, take time to build excitement for the new school year. Talk with your child about the possibilities of making new friends, discovering new interests, and continuing their journey of learning. Encouraging positive conversations about school fosters enthusiasm and confidence. A balanced summer filled with relaxation, exploration, and light learning will help set the stage for a GREAT year ahead in 2025 at Greenhills Primary.
