Dear Families,
As we approach the end of the school the year, I would like us to reflect on the incredible journey we’ve had together so far this year. With only a few weeks remaining, it’s a perfect time to celebrate the progress our children have made and reaffirm the importance of our partnership.
This year, our students have worked diligently and shown remarkable commitment to their mathematical learning. St John's data shows the growth students have made reflecting our well balanced maths programs, the dedication of our teachers and the amazing support of our parents.
Our ACER Maths data highlights tremendous growth among our students across all
levels. This achievement is no surprise; it reflects the outstanding work happening in every classroom on a daily basis. Our daily reviews have been instrumental in helping students retain mathematical skills and knowledge in their long-term memory for easy retrieval. The combination of explicit teaching strategies, the expectation of full participation, differentiated learning activities that cater to multiple entry points, and the consistent collection of student data has empowered students to advance in their learning journey.
We take pride in our extension and accelerated programs, which support our high-achieving students. Our GRIN (Get Ready In Numeracy) program builds students' confidence ahead of each maths lesson, and the dedicated support provided by our LSOs plays a vital role. Together, these initiatives have contributed to making our students' success in maths a reality.
At St. John’s, we believe that education is a shared responsibility, one that involves collaboration between students, parents and teachers. The partnership we have built as a community has been fundamental to the academic and personal growth of each student. We encourage you to continue supporting your child in their learning journey, maintaining open communication with our teachers and staff. Together, we can ensure that our students finish this year strong and set the foundation for future success.
As we approach the festive season, we are reminded of the importance of family, reflection, and gratitude. The Christmas holidays provide a much-needed break for rest and rejuvenation. It’s a time to celebrate all that we have accomplished this year, both academically and personally, and to spend quality time with loved ones.
We want to take this opportunity to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of you for your unwavering support and dedication to the success of our school community. We are grateful for the partnership we share and the positive impact it has on our students’ lives.
I would like to bring to your attention that Essential Maths learning can still be accessed from home during the holidays. I would like to recommned the use of 'Sun Set Maths' on Essential Assessment to build fluency in the four operations.
On behalf of the entire St. John's team, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a joyful, restful holiday season. May the New Year bring renewed energy, new opportunities, and continued success. We look forward welcoming everyone back for an exciting new year in 2025.
