Body Kind Month
September is Body Kind month - an annual initiative by the Butterfly Foundation with the aim of supporting young people’s body image. Finding ways to like, accept, love or even feel positive about your body can be challenging but we can all try to be a little kinder both to ourselves and others.
At DSC we are recognising Body Kind month in a number of ways. On Monday 11th September, our Student Representative Council invited students to wear free-dress in the theme of 'Comfy Clothes'. Students ditched their uniforms and sported their comfiest, coziest, and confidence-boosting attire. Whether it was trackies, hoodies or their fav pyjama bottoms, the objective of the day was to create a compassionate community that celebrates positive body image.
At lunchtime on Tuesday 12th September, the school Rock Bands performed live on the Music Centre outdoor stage. The atmosphere was electric! Students enjoyed performances by "International Legends" and "Off Switch", who played their own songs, in front of a packed crowd.
