Wear It Purple Day Tomorrow

Tomorrow we will celebrate Wear It Purple Day, which strives to foster supportive, safe, empowering and inclusive environments for rainbow young people. We invite students to wear purple to celebrate this important day for the LGBTQIA+ community.

Baked goods will be sold for a gold coin donation during the day (and after assembly if there are left overs) with proceeds going to a charity, Minus18.  We will also be selling a small selection of wrists bands from Minus 18, again with a gold coin donation.

Book Parade next Wednesday 30th August

Our wonderful annual book parade will now take place on Wednesday, the 30th of August, from 9.15am. Students and staff are encouraged to dress up as their favourite book character (or easiest book character ;) ) for this event. Book week is actually this week but, as our school calendar is chock a block, we needed to push it out a week. It won't matter to the students, they'll have a great time regardless.

Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Music News

Recorder Event

The vibe at the recorder event this year was especially friendly and a genuine celebration of sharing our music making with each other. I find it inspiring to watch young musicians step outside their comfort zone and really try their best. Everyone had been practising their music, preparing for the event and we were all rewarded with a fine concert, with a few prizes at the end.

The Senior Recorder Ensemble played our best, however, unfortunately, no prize this year. The adjudicator said “an engaging performance”.

The solo sections of the recorder event was well populated by CNPS students and more stayed to listen.  Everyone played well and some were awarded medals; Vivienne Morgan 1st Prize in 10 and under, Sebastian Trinder-Rothin Honourable Mention in 12 and under and Quinn Wintle 2nd Prize in 12 and under. As usual, there were not enough prizes for all who played well.

Many thanks to all the parents for their support.

Event Payments and Curriculum Contributions

Events

Payment for events that have already taken place this year need to be made as soon as possible please.  If you have difficulty with Compass and are unsure which events are outstanding, please call or see Gaby in the office. Payment can also be made over the counter or by phone.  Should payment be difficult financially, please see Trish in the office to work out a payment plan.

Curriculum Contributions

Every year our school purchases stationery and other curriculum consumables on behalf of students, as we can access a good discount for this.  However, unless these items are paid for by families, the school is significantly out of pocket. Thank you to all families who have paid to date.  We understand that not all families are able to pay, and this charge is voluntary, however if you are able to make payment, we would really appreciate it.The cost for each year level is:

Foundation        $135.00

Year 1/2              $114.00

Year 3/4              $146.00

Year 5/6              $135.00

Payment can be made via Compass under Course Confirmations, over the phone or at the office.

Thank you for your understanding.

Thanks

Thanks to Campbell Message, (father of Arlo in Year 5) for his hilarious and enlightening speech to the whole school at assembly last week, which was about inclusion, difference and curiosity. Campbell addressed the school as part of National Day Against Bullying.
