RIST Open Day
Four year 9 students recently attended the open day at RIST. The students partook in activities such as Working Dog Training, Shearing, Agritech (welding & tractor simulators), and Agronomy.
At the end of the day they also observed a sheep autopsy conducted by Dr Katherine Robertson.
RIST is a fantastic hands on experience for students interested in a career in agriculture, with learning being conducted on their working farm out Mt Napier Road. Certificates II and III are offered to Year 10-12 students with many of Baimbridge students honing skills they already are using on the family farm and gaining a qualification at the end of their training.
Moose Engineering
On Tuesday, 3 year 9s and one year 10 student went on an excursion to Moose Engineering to meet Marty and see what sort of work is done there. Moose employs Fabricators and Machinists (Boiler Makers and Fitter & Turners) and other engineers in their workshop in Peck St.
The students saw all the different types of machines used to engineer, and the vast range of jobs that Moose undertakes each week. They were able to ask questions about the job itself, career options, apprenticeship options, and work experience. Thank you Julie & Marty for making the time to show the students around.
